Frisco Stream Clean
Cleanup Location: Cottonwood Creek trail: playground-bridge. Recommended parking is at 3925 Bear Creek Lane
Safety Notes:
Safety is our top priority, so common safety tips are provided below!
Before the cleanup:
Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes (required). Water/ rain boots are recommended.
Bug spray and adequate sun protection are recommended.
Bring water and stay hydrated.
During the cleanup:
For street parking, please park on one side to not impede traffic flow, and do not park in front of hydrants, mailboxes, or in fire lanes.
When walking up to your cleanup location, watch for traffic, cross only at protected crosswalks, and use sidewalks when possible.
Use gloves when picking up litter; do not pick up litter with your bare hands.
Be aware of poison ivy/oak and know what it looks like. Do not touch it.
Please watch your step on irregular terrain, and always test your footing before committing. Eroded areas could collapse without warning.
Be aware of wildlife. If you encounter wildlife, back up slowly to give them space. Remember this is their home too!
Flowing streams can be dangerous, especially where flows are high or fast or where water is unclear. Do not walk into flowing streams. Only collect litter along the sides of the stream bed and where the litter grabber can safely reach.
(Exception: Staff -guided locations are the ONLY locations where volunteers could potentially walk into streams; however, it MUST first be deemed safe to enter by City staff.)
After the cleanup:
Use hand sanitizer provided AND wash your hands before touching your face or eating. Bring cleanup supplies and collected bagged litter to the Environmental Collection Center at 6616 Walnut St.
Thank you for volunteering! Your efforts are what makes Frisco beautiful!
